serves as a buttress for parents who choose to go it alone; i.e.

In the past, conscientious parents have done a spectacular job inspiring
their children to excellence by developing their natural gifts and
abilities and "Gifted Spirt.com" is about empowering new parents
embarking on this journey to do the same.
Background
Mocha Charm, Inc. has evolved from the local Starbucks meetings of
parents to discuss their children's educational issues to create
Gifted-Spirit.com, an online community that now serves parents across
the country of diverse economic and ethnic backgrounds. Leading the
charge was Michelle Brown-Stafford, a parent concerned about the
incongruity in scholastic performance of her own children.
Michelle's children easily exhibited exceptional academic talent outside
of the classroom yet their talents were not made apparent within the
classroom. In fact, one child began college studies at age 11 after two
years of homeschooling but was barely identified as being "gifted" by his
former elementary school.
Not sure of the factors that contributed to this occurrence, Michelle
began to research the phenomena extensively and after combing
through articles, speaking with professional educators and meeting with
hundreds of parents, Michelle learned that her family's experience was
not unique. She set about establishing a structure and means of
encouragement for children who needed to bridge the gap of
classroom/home study performance and Mocha Charm, Inc. and
Gifted-Spirit.com was founded.
