Meet Brenda Pridgen!
Hello, my name is Brenda Pridgen. I am a coach, motivator, wife,
mother teacher and business owner (among other things).
My accelerated educational endeavors began with my youngest child,
Darryl. While a conglomerate of public and private school systems
worked well for my two other children (both girls), those avenues were
not suitable for my son. I quickly figured out that many new
adventures were about to take place. They did and still are.
When my son Darryl, was as young as two or three years old, I saw
things in him that I really did not comprehend as "gifted" behavior.
Darryl attended public and private schools during his pre-K and
kindergarten years. When he began to read early into his third year I
knew he was a little different.
While in kindergarten he was reading on a 5th grade level. At the
beginning of his first grade year it was REALLY time for us to make a
change. With many unknowns and a lack of confidence in myself,
but much confidence in God I began to homeschool. As of his latest
standardized test scores he has "scored off the charts!" Early college
enrollment may be in our future.
I do not tell you these things to boast because I truly believe every
child is "gifted". It is up to us as parents to draw out of them what has
been placed in them since their creation. That is what I am here to
help you do as parents and educators.
